After practicing law for sixteen years in New Jersey, the last twelve of which were with his own firm of Corrado & Martella, P.C. located in Jersey City, Mr. Martella and his family moved to Punta Gorda, Florida in 2004, just a few days before Hurricane Charlie. After serving as Vice President and in-house counsel for a Southwest Florida title agency, Mr. Martella was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2006 and joined a local Law Firm in Punta Gorda before launching his own firm in 2008.
A graduate of Villanova University in 1985 (B.A. Political Science), Mr. Martella went on to the Villanova University School of Law where he received his Juris Doctorate in 1988. He continued his education later in his career by receiving his Masters Degree in Political Science from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey in 2003, where he also taught undergraduate classes in American Government, Constitutional Law and American Foreign Policy.
Mr. Martella is currently a member in good standing of the Bars of the States of Florida and New Jersey as well as the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. He is also admitted to practice before the Federal District Courts for the Middle District of Florida, the District of New Jersey and the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
Throughout his career, Mr. Martella has practiced in various areas of the law representing individuals as well as large corporations and lending institutions. His areas of practice have included, administrative law, association law, bankruptcy, construction law, corporate law, commercial litigation, title insurance, real estate transactions, surety and fidelity insurance litigation, wills and estates, and casino law.
Mr. Martella's involvement with the community includes currently serving as Past-President of the Board of Directors of the Charlotte County Homeless Coalition and as President of the Board of Directors of the Charlotte County Chamber of Commerce. He is also Past-President of the Board of Main Street Punta Gorda. The firm is also a member of the Punta Gorda Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce and the North Port Area Chamber of Commerce. The firm was a sponsor of a team for the Charlotte County American Cancer Society's 2009 "Relay for Life" as well as local youth sports teams such as Lemon Bay High School baseball and the Punta Gorda Police Summer Basketball League. Additionally, Mr. Martella is a board member of the Southwest Florida Real Estate Counsel, a member of the Charlotte County Bar Association, Florida Bar Association and the Southwest Florida Bankruptcy Bar Association. He is also a graduate of the Leadership Charlotte Class of 2008.
